Why did religion start?

When all we need is heart

Once the Word was killed

Somebody had to build

A place to hang their art

Come and join the club

Enjoy your Sunday Pub

They'll give you all the tools

So you wont break the rules

All while avoiding love

It's the doctrine you should doubt

Man-made judgment you can live without

A hundred different versions of the Word

You should question everything

You've heard

Lord I pray our legacy

Would be our epiphany

Is that so far away...from who we are?

Try humility

Towards all humanity

Being saved is a start

We need a change of heart

And serve religiously

Where is this holiness?

Ignorance is bliss

You don't understand

That god was once a man

That's a big thing to miss

Let traditionalists dwell

In redundant rituals that serve themselves

A thousand different versions of the Word

You should question everything

You've heard

Lord I pray our legacy

Would be our humility

Is that so far away...from who we are?

Don't put your life of sin

Into the hands of men

There's no man on Earth

That grants you true rebirth

That only Jesus can

Trust the Holy Ghost

To reveal the most

Live the Word of God

Pray and study hard

The truth will be exposed

Leave perfection to the priests

It's reserved for holy men and saduccees

A million different versions of the Word
